Celebrations

Join the City of Pasadena Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department and the Latino Heritage Committee for Pasadena’s 25th Annual Latino Heritage Celebrations. This year’s celebrations feature a month of FREE, family-friendly outdoor events. 

Latino Heritage Parade and Festival 

  • Saturday, Sept. 16, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All Ages

Join local schools, community groups, elected officials, dignitaries, neighbors, and friends at the 25th Annual Latino Heritage Parade and Festival. This event is sponsored by the City of Pasadena and the Pasadena Latino Heritage Committee.

Parent/Caregiver and Me Chocolate Skull Making Workshop 

  • Saturday, Sept. 23, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All Ages

 

Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) sugar skull craft. Participants will follow step-by-step instructions to create a fun and unique chocolate calavera. All supplies will be provided, and registration is required. 

Pan Dulce “Concha” Workshop  

  • Saturday, Sept. 30,  9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Ages 15+

Conchas are a traditional sweet bread made of a fluffy, buttery, brioche-like soft dough, flavored with cinnamon and topped with a sugar paste which resembles a seashell. This is one of the most popular kinds of authentic Mexican bread and is an iconic childhood favorite for many. In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn the basics of making these delicious treats and have the opportunity to taste and share their creations with family and friends.  

Movie Night 

  • Friday, Oct. 6, 7:00 pm. All Ages

       Tournament of Roses Association Grounds, 391 S. Orange Grove Blvd.

Paint and Aguas Frescas 

  • Saturday, Oct. 7, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Ages 8+

       Villa Parke, 363 E. Villa St. 

Join us for Paint and Aguas Frescas! Participants will have the opportunity to create their very own painting while enjoying a tasty cantarito of agua fresca! Art kits and aguas will be provided and registration is required. Participants will paint under the instruction of an experienced artist. Register now at cityofpasadena.net/reserve.

Dia de los Muertos    

  • Friday, Oct. 27, 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. All Ages

       Villa Parke, 363 E. Villa St. 

 

Join friends and neighbors at Villa Parke Community Center to celebrate Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). The Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department is teaming up with the Armory Center for the Arts and Pasadena Community Job Center to commemorate this century-old holiday with dance performances, arts and crafts, food (available for purchase), and “ofrendas,” altars honoring the lives of the deceased.
